We uphold and promote respect for human rights throughout our value chain. And we support our local communities through ad hoc initiatives and ongoing programmes.

We strive to create a working environment where every talent is nurtured through learning and professional growth opportunities, the sharing of experiences and an open work culture. These core values combine with our collaborative spirit to foster curiosity and innovation in our people that has secured the success of our business worldwide.

Explore how we support people and social sustainability in each of these crucial areas:

  • We actively uphold and protect human rights as a fundamental value.

We operate with full respect for the United Nations International Bill of Human Rights, the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights implementing the United Nations “Protect, Respect and Remedy” Framework , and the International Labour Organization’s Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work.

Moreover, we demand the same of all parties in our value chain and have our own detailed Code of Ethics which sets out the standards of ethical behaviour for all our employees and suppliers.

  • For us Health and Safety is a key value and our rigorous practices aim to reduce any potential risks to a minimum, ensuring our people work in a safe environment.

All our facilities have been designed and built with safety as a priority and are at the cutting edge of technology in our industry as recognized by external assessors. Our Occupational Health Policy and Manual, issued in every plant allows, promotes a continuous improvement approach that strives to set the highest standards through:

    — monitoring and identifying best safety practices

    — two weeks’ induction safety training for all new staff

    — ongoing safety training in the workplace

    — regularly developing and implementing new safety measures

We record and monitor all accidents at work of any kind by number, type, severity and any related days lost, implementing regular analyses to identify possible improvement measures while also adopting “near miss” management in every plant. As a result, there has been a steady decline in both the number and severity of accidents that occur on our premises around the world. Accident events in 2020 were down 34% compared with 2019, a reduction of 30% in the accident frequency index*1, while our 2019 achievement of 88% of accidents requiring less than 30 days absence from work was maintained in 2020. Most importantly, the accident severity index*2 showed an improvement of -34.4%.

We dedicate considerable effort to continuously assessing and preventing major hazards on our premises. This includes the prevention and control of fire risk through safety measures that go above and beyond the standard legislation in every country where we operate, earning the Seda Group FM Global Certification, the highest fire prevention standard in the world.

    Through our products

We are extremely proud that our packaging has been recognised for safeguarding the health and safety of the general population by effectively combating the risks of bacterial, viral and fungal contamination both in the food chain and in public health generally, including during the COVID-19 health emergency.
